Male Grey Phalerope
Phalaropes fulicarous (Grey Phalerope). Svabard.
Picture of a male Grey Phalerope. Grey Phalerope have reversed sex roles. It is the female that performs courtship display and participates most in territorial defense while the male incubates the eggs and rears the young. Males are consequently have a more cryptic plumage.
